Happy Labor Day!

May 1 is Labor Day here.  I’m not exactly sure what the significance of it is :), but schools are off and businesses are closed, and our church has a tradition of taking a big trip together.  So we all headed to the Bekaa Valley for the day.

We had breakfast at a restaurant in Kab Elias (Isla snacked on the bus), then headed to a nearby nature preserve.

It was a swamp – totally unlike anything I’ve seen in Lebanon before… very beautiful!

We picked flowers…

…looked for animals (ducks, birds and frogs! :))…

… then headed back to a park at the restaurant for some Lebanese style barbecue…

…and what’s a party without a little bit of the Debke?!?

It was nice to get out of the city and spend some time with our church family.  Happy Labor Day!  :)
