What’s your vote count for?

I can’t even begin to wrap my head around the complexity that is Lebanese politics.

I do know that the parliament is working on a new electoral law to replace the one the country has been using since 1960.  One of the options I heard about was to only allow people to vote for representatives from their religious sect.  Except Jews.  Apparently they can vote for whomever they choose.

There’s also lots of discussion about the role of expatriate Lebanese – of which there are more than those actually living in Lebanon.

Many are hopeful that a new law will be in place in time for elections in June and that Lebanon will have fair and peaceful elections.  And then there is this guy…

  1. well he is right, lebanese poitics are repeating them selves againand again and again meaninglessly, our votes are worth nothing but garbage……
